Government’s launches Swachh Bharat Summer Internship
Speaking on the radio address “Mann Ki Baat” PM Modi today announced the “Swachh Bharat Summer Internship” for students.
Prime Minister asked students to join the swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018, designed by three ministries.
“A Summer for Swachhata…urging my young friends to think about the Swachh Bharat Internship and contribute towards a clean India. #MannKiBaat.”

Students will adopt one or two villages as a part of Internship and will conduct activities of their choice to contribute the cause of rural sanitation in India.The internship will be of at least 100 hours between May 1 and July 31. The interns will get incentives including credit points by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
At the end of the programme, best interns would be identified at college, university, state and national levels and will be awarded.
Through this internship, you will grow your skills and learn something new which will upgrade your qualifications and also help you to make your resume stronger and better.
Who all can apply for the internship
Students enrolled in universities, colleges may apply through the enrolment form available on sbsi.mygov.in. The candidates can either apply individually or in the team of maximum 10 members.
Registration for the summer internship has opened on April 25 and will continue till May 15, 2018.
The duration of the internship is 100 Hours and students can do it between May 1 and July 31, 2018.
Here’s how you can apply For this Intership
Step 1. Visit the official Swachh Bharat Summer Internship website – sbsi.mygov.in.
Step 2. Choose to enroll in Academic/Institutions or Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.
Step 3. After a new page opens, click on ‘Login here’ link.
Step 4. Enter your Name, Email, Mobile number to register on MyGov (Enter the correct number because otp will send on your mobile number for confirmation)
Step 5: Enter email or mobile number and login with OTP
Step 6: Now fill up the enrollment form with the proper details .
What all students need to do
In this Swachh Bharat Summer Internship, it is expected that the students will not only participate in the overall cleanliness in the villages or slums but would also help in setting up systems for sustaining cleanliness and sanitation efforts under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and there is also more to do in this Swachh Bharat Summer Internship.
Here are the few suggested activities that a candidate can be expected to do
As the part of the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship the activities that participants may conduct have been categorized into three clusters Here is the three categories
1) Education-Communication activities: These could range from street plays to music and dance performance
2) Solid Waste Management related activities: These involve cleanup drives and activities like waste collection, segregation, developing compost pits etc in this internship.
3) Support in toilet construction
The students need to submit a report on the Swachh Bharat Internship portal through a supervisor assigned by the institution who will be responsible for guiding the students through the internship as per guidelines.
What will candidates get on finishing the internship
“The best of the best interns, who have done exceptional work at the college, university state and national levels, will be given prizes at the national level,” Prime Minister Modi announced duing his Mann Ki Baat. He said the internship would be a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi ahead of his 150th birth anniversary on October 2.
The interns will also get incentives including credit points by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
